Email Marketing And Wordpress
When you combine the marketing power of a email newsletter with the many benefits associated with wordpress, you have an unbeatable combination. Wordpress brings a host of new advantages to the table. Back in the early days, I created a simple website that listed my past issues. With wordpress you have an instant archive generator that has much more power than a conventional website.
Let’s take a look at some of the features:
Permalink Structure
A permalink is simply a unique link to a unique article. It should have the title of the article in the link. An example would be emailmarketer.net/blog/email_marketing_made_easy. Notice how the title (Email Marketing Made Easy) is in the link. Yes, you can accomplish this om a regular website but it is very labor intensive. You would have to create the page manually–and then upload each article to your server. With wordpress, you simply post an article and the pages are created on the fly. These pages are highly SEO optimized.
Search Engine Friendly
As I mentioned above, search engines love new content. Search engines also like pages that clearly define what the content is about. Wordpress simplifies this process by creating a keyword specific page automatically. Your title should be a keyword phrase that you want to target. Wordpress will then take your post title and optimize that title throughout your page. You should include a few keywords throughout the article without going overboard. The more articles you write, the better your chances of gaining new subscribers.
Archives
An archive section is crucial for many potential readers. Let them sample your style to see if you are worthy of an opt-in. With wordpress, this is automatic. Archives are important to human readers as well as the google bot!
RSS Capability
Wordpress will also create an RSS feed for every article you write. RSS stands for “real simple syndication”. You can’t go anywhere these days without seeing the little “subscribe to this feed” button. My MSN, My Yahoo, Google Home, AOL, all have places where you can add feeds to your home page. Some people prefer to get their content through feeds. Some people feel that RSS will eventually take over email but this simply won’t happen. However, RSS is here and you need to take advantage of the technology.
This is only a brief overview of the many benefits in having a wordpress blog. I have started a new category that is dedicated to this topic. This will also be a focal point in the Email Marketers Vault which is due to launch in early May.
Stay tuned!
