How Often Should I send Emails?
Here is a great question from one of our readers…
Hi James,
How often should I send emails to my newsletter subscribers? Is there a scheduled time frame that works better than others?
Thanks,
Traci, North Dakota
This is a great question! My answer is: “It depends“. I know of one publisher that emails his list every day. He may send 3 emails in a single day. This works great for him. I know of other publishers that only send emails monthly, or even bi-monthly with great success.
It doesn’t matter how often you send emails; what matters is what your subscribers expect. This is very important. What does your subscribe page say? Does it say you will receive a weekly newsletter published every Friday? If so, you have your answer. Make sure that you do what you say!
If you say that you send out a weekly newsletter–and an occasional advertisement; then this is your email delivery guide. On the other hand, if you say you send weekly newsletters–and then you blast out daily advertisements, you’ve blown your credibility.
My advice…
Generally, sending emails every week, or bi-weekly is your best bet. You want to stay in your readers mind without becoming an irritation. You definitely need to set your terms so your readers know what to expect from you.
