Lead Capture Sales Pages?

When you think of a lead capture page, are you thinking in the past or in the now? In 1997 I had a fair amount of success by simply placing a subscribe box in the upper left corner of my web site with little or no text. This is not the case anymore.

Back in the old days, people would freely give out their email address on a whim. Today you have to give them a reason to subscribe–and it better be superior to your competition. You will notice that I do have a newsletter subscription box on this site. You will also notice a “more Info” link that directs prospects to my sales page.

Sales Page?

In today’s market you have to sell yourself to potential subscribers. There is simply too much competition. You need to explain the many benefits your subscribers will enjoy. You need to cater to their needs.

You also have to understand that there are different types of potential subscribers that subscribe for different reasons–and they act on different types of triggers.

Impulse subscribers will usually act immediately. If you have a strong heading and subheading, these folks generally subscribe right away. You should have a subscription form above the fold for these people.

Emotional subscribers are driven by emotion almost exclusively. If you appeal to their emotions, you get the signup. I usually have a subscribe form midway down the site for these folks.

Then you have your toughest group the Analytical subscriber! They will read every word on the page. They will not subscribe until they have studied the entire picture. I place a subscribe box at the bottom of the page for these folks.

A lead capture sales page is similar to any other sales page. They are quite long and they include headlines, subheads, images, testimonials, benefits, and bonus offers. They take some time to create, but they outperform a simple capture page by leaps and bounds.

I have spent over a decade testing these types of pages. My upcoming book will go into great detail about the construction of these pages. Our members only vault will have many ready-made templates that have been tested and proven to pull extremely well.
